In 1999 the Youth Corps Department was established. This was to provide a safe space for the increasing number of street children and orphans in Uganda at that time. It was also an opportunity and a platform for the cornerstone Student’s alumni to practice servant leadership.
Bukesa boys home was the very first and housed 5 former street boys soon after, Kibuli, Makerere and Nsambya Homes were started each intended to care for 20 street boys under the care of 3 mentors each.
Two girls’ homes were established namely Mengo and Ntinda homes.
Lira Girls and Boys homes were also started to provide support to the children that were affected by the Kony war in Northern Uganda.
With Halo Foundation started Lungujja Girls’ Home.
Sixty Feet supported the starting of Nakawa and Rubaga Girls’ homes, Lugala-Busega Boys home.
Love Does gave birth to Kisaasi Home now known as Bukoto Safe House, and Kyambogo safe house.
2008 the HALO School Sponsorship program was started
2009 – The Nansana Special Kids Project was established
2014- Youth Corps Department hired its first professional Counsellor
2016- The Youth Corps Learning Center was started.
2020- The Youth Corps Community Outreach program was started.
