Lungujja Girls' Home

Lungujja Home has been running as an amazing, generous and caring home that is a safe haven for victims of defilement, child abuse, sexual and gender-based violence since 2008.

It is home for currently fourteen (14) girls recruited from various parts of the Country who undergo holistic transformation, get an education and mentorship and are later on resettled after spending three (3) years in the shelter.

Their stay with us allows the mentors to empower them to transform their communities.

We establish a good relationship with our neighbors who in most cases recommend some of the girls.  Others are recommended by Government Probation officers, local council leadership and other partners.

The mentors and counsellors assess the reported cases with the help of the local authorities in those areas before recruitment takes place.

As a home, we ensure that the girls in our care experience love through a number of psycho-social support activities, are taught a better way to live in line with the principles and precepts and person of Jesus Christ. We deliberately show them that they are loved by the mentors and other Youth Corps staff throughout the time spent together.

The girls are taught life skills such as hair dressing, catering, baking, tailoring and shoe making. They also explore new experiences through doing both indoor and outdoor games, sports and academic pursuits.
