Resettlement and Boarding Program

HALO School Sponsorship

HALO School Sponsorship (HALO SS) programme is designed to support vulnerable children and youths whose guardians or caretakers are hindered by poverty to provide basic welfare needs for the children such as education.

The programme was started late 2008 when a partnership between Youth Corps and VOICE OF HOPE on a similar programme ended in 2007. On dissolution of the partnership, some of the

children being cared for were uncertain about their future and education. Youth Corps made an arrangement with HALO to support about 24 kids to stay in boarding schools and go back home in holidays.

As years passed, some children graduated from the program and with support from HALO, more vulnerable kids have been taken on including day schooling kids living with their families making it no longer an only boarding programme.

The programme has been running for over 10 years since 2008, it is currently supporting 12 beneficiaries (6 females and 6 males) in boarding schools: 2 enrolled into the Youths Corps Learning Center a vocational institute run by Youth Corps, 1 in primary school, 7 in O’ Level, and 2 In A ‘Level.
